Nanny goes in circles

Published by admin under Out and About

Before Mummy took little ones for a walk we let Nanny have a go at pushing our triplet pushchair around the local play area, she was amazed how effortlessly the pushchair moves.

Feeding’s now allowed – Part 2b

Published by admin under Feeding

Ok, almost enough of the feeding pics but I couldn’t resist these few, little ones looking so sweet while being fed, and Nanny and Grandad with big smiles.  These were taken during the second feed of the same day as Part 2 below, this time Nanny and Grandad seemed a little more relaxed and I thought I’d try and be a little more artistic with the photo’s.

Feeding’s now allowed – part 2

Published by admin under Feeding

The weekend after our day out shopping we visited Nanny and Grandad, and as our confidence in others feeding little ones had grown, we decided on the way that we’d let them help with the feeds.  We’d previously told the family that we (Lou… hu..hum..cough) didn’t want anyone else to assist feeding, feeling it was more of a personal one to one time with each little one with no distractions. However, half way to the family all 3 of our noisy little angels awoke realising their feed was due and starting a choir in the back of the car.   To feed all 3 at the same time in a strange location would have been awkward, with each hand tied to a bottle there’s no spare hand to catch eventualities such as catapulting sicky burps, or milky sneeze’s that travel half way across the room… pic attached below ;-)

So, when we asked Nanny and Grandad if they’d like to help with the feed there was a slightly surprised look on their face, with a slightly “are they joking” or “are they for real” expression.  Yep, we were for real, see their deep in concentration below, you’d almost think they’d never fed a baby before.

Part 3 still to come… Their other Nanny and Grandad helped feed little ones later this day but before I caught up with my camera, then last weekend we visited again and bit of a boo boo, I left my camera battery in the charger at home, so hopefully a few pic’s next time!

Feeding’s now allowed – part 1

Published by admin under Feeding

Lou was a little unsure about letting the friends and family assist with feeding little ones, but after venturing out shopping for the day we decided if we didn’t allow others to help we’d spend over 50% of the time feeding, and very little time shopping… though to be honest the amount of attention we get leaves little time left for shopping anyway!

At the beginning of the month we had our first day trip visiting a local shopping mall.  Our close friends ‘Uncle’ Paul and ‘Aunty’ Becky accompanied us, providing invaluable assistance in both keeping the audience’s away and helping feed little ones.  As soon as we arrived little ones were due their first feed, myself and Lou fed Lily and Daisy while Aunty Becky fed Poppy for the first time, then later that day Uncle Paul had his first feed… we’ll, not literally him!

Great Grandparents and 2 Months Old

Published by admin under General Chat

I’ve haven’t completely forgotten the blog, time flies by so fast when you’ve 3 little ones to look after!  I went back to work a few weeks ago and since then it’s work, eat, feed little ones, and sleep, that’s pretty much it.  I’ve backdated this post to try and keep the updates in order… hopefully no one will notice?

Little ones are doing really well, they grow so fast that we’ve already got a basket full of clothes that are too small.  Poppy is already up 3 cloth sizes and now wearing 0-3 months, Lily and Daisy are both now up to New Born size.  We’ve been having them weighed every week, and this Friday Poppy weight 8 1/2 lb, Lily just under that, and Daisy just under 8lb, that means they’ve all approximately doubled in size since they we’re born only 2 months ago.  Over the last few weeks their all becoming a lot more alert, especially in the jealousy department… Poppy started off the trend and decided she definitely doesn’t approve of her sisters being picked up, Lily and Daisy have also now caught on, deciding they want cuddles alone with Mummy and not in tandem.

Now their a little bigger we’ve started venturing out a little more.  Last weekend we visited Great Grandparents for the first time, I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a big smile on their faces, to say they were excited to see little ones would be an understatement, here’s a few pics of our first visit, even Poppy seemed to love the cuddle with Great Nanny :-)

Babies first day out

Published by admin under Out and About

Yesterday we ventured out with little ones for the first time!  Surprisingly all went really well, but a big word of advise to anyone else considering taking their triplets shopping with them… pick a very very quite time, and never go alone as you’ll get absolutely no shopping done, we certainly won’t be attempting any shopping on a Saturday.  We were completely inundated with other shopper, and completely surrounded by people at times like some kind of fair ground attraction, perhaps I should grab myself a ticket book and charge viewing fee’s?

I secretly relish the attention but Louise pretty much hates it, so guess who happily pushed little ones around the shops for the hour or so that we were there?  In honesty I don’t think it’s a secret at all, Lou even told me to stop flirting on several occasions… I’ve no idea what she meant ;-)

We used our ABC Adventure Buggy that my parents bought us from GoBubbaGo for the first time, we we’re both pretty amazed how easy it is to push and how many shops we managed to easily get it in.  We reckon it’s about the width of a wheel chair which most shops have to cater for, so squeezing it through door ways and down the shopping isles wasn’t an issue.  The only real negatives is that at first it’s a little difficult to judge the length, but after a little practice and only catching 1 clothing stand it became second nature, I don’t recall going over any speed bumps, so left the shops confident I didn’t accidental run anyone over.

Mummy and our Buggy

Little one’s didn’t seem to mind the buggy and fell straight back asleep after we’d moved them from the car seats.  For our first time it took roughly 15 minutes to get all 3 strapped up and safely in the car, and about 10 minutes to get them out the car and in to the buggy (including putting the buggy up).

As it’s still quite cold outside we decided to see if our little snow suits fitted yet…

Babies snow suit

…they look so sweet but still a little on the large side ;-)   We resorted to their little bunny jackets, a hat and a blanket, which in hind site was a better option anyway as we could easily remove the layers when we went in several warm shops.

Comments and Users

Published by admin under General Chat

Over the last week I’ve overhauled the Comments and Membership parts of the web site.  This should make communication more user friendly and more interactive.

Comments now have a few new features that should make using the site easier and more fluent.  For a start, each blog entry now displays an “Add Your Comment” box at the bottom.  New comments posted by users are displayed as soon as the submit button’s been pressed, saving you from having to refresh the page before seeing your comment.  Comments now also show user’s avatar’s (small thumbnail pics).  Comments also now feature a tick box which allows users to automatically receive an e-mail when someone else replies to their comment.  For a details guide of how to use our comments system and set-up your Avatar [Click Here].

Membership features have also been improved, prior to this upgrade it appears membership joining e-mails were not automatically being sent out, hence any one joining wouldn’t have received their user passwords etc.  The joining process now appears to work correctly, I’ll try and ensure that anyone who previously joined receives their passwords within the following week.

Finally, I’ve added a “Help” button to the top of the page, please feel free to take a look here if you have any issues using the site, and feel free to post a comment within the Help page if you need assistance, find a bug, or want to recommend any improvements.

I hope the improvements all work ok.

Take Care,
Richard

Dummy’s equal peace

Published by admin under General Chat

They don’t cry much, and a lot less than some of the horror stories I’ve heard, but when they do it can be a head ache inducing time.  Top that with a chain reaction affect… one starts, then another wakes and decides to join in, and finally there’s a fully fledged trio of noise… Dummy’s / Soothers / Pacifiers definitely help!  We’ve quite a strict schedule of feeding, occurring at present every 4 hours, none of that feeding on demand in our house, so when little ones think they want feeding only 2 hours after their last feed, crying begins.  It’s pretty much the only time they do cry, but without intervention it could go on for some time.

Tranquillity with Dummy's

Tranquillity with Dummy's

At first they were pretty unwise to Dummy’s, but soon realised they don’t produce milk… in fact, I’m pretty convinced that they still think everything produces milk except dummy’s, though we can still trick them into thinking the dummy is a teat.  Trying to assure them that their jumper sleeve doesn’t solve their hunger problem isn’t easy, but it can keep them quiet for a while.  Now they’ve realised the dummy doesn’t produce milk their a little less effective but still way better than nothing, if their really hungry like shortly before feeding time they’ll constantly spit the dummy out every few minutes, the rest of the time the dummy’s work really well.

Oh dear, the dummy fell out!

We now have 2 types of Dummy, the cheap own-brand ones seen in the pictures above that feature the classic ball shaped tip, plus the more flashy slightly flat shaped ones that cost more than twice the price… guess which ones they prefer?  Let just say we could have saved a few pounds!

Some people seem to really hate using dummy’s, saying their ugly and look stupid… I can’t quite see it myself, I think little ones look pretty sweet with their dummy’s in, plus their a lot happier when all else fails to settle them.

Poppy with Dummy

Lily with Dummy

Daisy with Dummy

To all other parents of young babies… if your babies are crying for no apparent reason and all else fails to comfort their needs except feeding, and you find their just using the feed as a comfort suck rather than for hunger needs, then dummy’s are a life saver.  Here’s a good article I found recommending the reasons to use Dummy’s http://www.babyworld.co.uk/features/dummy.asp.

Enjoy,
Richard
